A/C System not as cold as it should?

An AC Condenser Fan in need of replacement could be a cause. Your cars AC system is designed to remove heat from your passenger compartment to keep your cool on even the hottest days. When it fails to provide proper cooling or any cooling at all, you can be in for a miserable car ride. There are several reason for your AC system to not be working correctly.

How do I know I may need an AC Condenser?

Your AC System can produce a lot of heat. Your vehicles cooling fan is responsible to help remove this heat. Some vehicles have a dedicated fan, others use normal cooling fans. If this heat isn’t removed properly your AC system will not function or will function poorly.

The systems of a failed AC Condenser Fan are:

  • AC not as cold as should be
  • AC not working at all
  • Excessive noise from the vehicles AC Condenser Fan

What exactly does the AC Condenser & Fan do?

Your vehicles AC system is designed to keep your cool and comfortable, by providing chilled, dried air. This is accomplished by removed heat from the air in your passenger compartment. Air in the passenger compartment is drawn over an AC evaporator. The evaporator contains refrigerant. This refrigerant changes from a liquid to a gas. As this occurs it draws heat out off the air resulting in cooling the passenger compartment. This refrigerant must be condensed back into a liquid.

This is where your AC Condenser comes in. Its job is to allow the refrigerant to condense. This release a lot of heat (heat which was inside your passenger compartment). In order to dissipate this heat, and allow proper refrigerant condensing an AC Condenser Fan is often used to draw heat out off the refrigerant and transfer it to the outside air. Some vehicles use the regular cooling fans with a different speed or mode setting to accomplish the same thing.
