Evaporative Emission Control Canister Replacement

evap canister

The Evaporative Emissions Control Canister is part of your vehicles emission system. This system is designed to reduce the amount of harmful pollutants that emitted by your vehicle. The Evaporative Canister is responsible for holding volatile vapors from your vehicles fuel system. These vapors are formed due to gasoline’s naturally low evaporation point.

The vapors are held with the canister until they are released, into the vehicles intake system and burned in the combustion chamber. The release is controlled by an Evaporative Vent Solenoid.

When the Evaporative Emissions Control Canister begins to fail you will notice:

  • Rough idle
  • Misfire
  • Check engine light
  • Fuel Smell

This cost estimate is for the specific repair listed and doesn?t include additional, related items that may require repair.
