Definition

The ECM watches feedback voltage on the aftertreatment fuel supply valve driver circuit, which meters diesel fuel to the DPF regeneration dosing system. P20DB sets when that voltage exceeds the expected range, indicating a short to voltage, an open solenoid coil, or a driver that cannot pull the circuit low. The ECM suspends dosing, sets the MIL, and blocks active regeneration, which over time loads the DPF with soot and can end in restriction codes and an engine derate.

  • High resistance from corroded or spread connector terminals

Troubleshooting steps

    With the valve commanded off, battery voltage present on the control wire confirms a short to voltage or an inability of the driver to sink current.

    An open (OL) reading against the OEM spec confirms a failed valve solenoid.

  3. 3.Verify circuit continuity end-to-end

    Confirm near-zero ohms from the valve connector to the ECM pin and inspect intermediate connectors for corrosion.

    Flex the harness near heat sources and tie points to expose intermittent opens or shorts.
