Troubleshooting steps

2.Validate the differential pressure sensor
Confirm ~0 kPa key-on engine-off and a smooth rise with RPM; inspect both pressure hoses for soot plugging, cracks, or swapped connections.
3.Check the air intake and boost system
Measure air filter restriction and inspect charge-air pipes for leaks—starve the engine of air and it will soot heavily under load.
4.Look for over-fueling
Compare injector balance/correction values and check the oil level for fuel dilution or unexplained rise; a leaking injector produces heavy soot.
5.Inspect EGR operation
Verify the EGR valve isn't stuck open or flowing excessively at load, which raises particulate output sharply.
6.Fix the root cause, then reset counters
After repair, perform a forced regen if needed and reset the regen-frequency learned values per service information.
