While driving the solenoid, the TCM/PCM continuously monitors the shift solenoid F circuit; P2710 sets when the circuit's voltage or current momentarily drops out and returns, indicating an intermittent connection rather than a hard failure. Symptoms are typically sporadic: occasional harsh or flared shifts, momentary loss of a gear, or brief trips into failsafe mode that clear on restart, often temperature- or vibration-dependent. The MIL may illuminate intermittently, which can make the fault hard to duplicate in the bay.
