Your vehicles AC is designed to cool an evaporator. This evaporator is what is used to cool the cabin of your vehicle when you have the AC on. The Evaporator Temperature Sensor is mounted inside the Evaporator. This sensor is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the evaporator.
This information is relayed to your vehicles AC control module. The control module will make adjustments to prevent the evaporator from getting to cold and freezing or from being too warm, which would cause ineffective cooling. If the temperature of the evaporator can reach an acceptable level, the system is may be turned off.
A failing evaporator temperature sensor will typically cause:
- No AC
- Poor AC performance
- AC light may blink of climate control system.
