What are spark plugs & what do they do?
A spark plug delivers the electrical spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture inside each cylinder of a gasoline engine. Without a strong, well-timed spark, the engine can't run smoothly or efficiently.
- Location: threaded into the cylinder head, one per cylinder, with the electrode tip reaching into the combustion chamber.

- Wear: the electrode gap widens and the tip fouls over time, weakening the spark.
