Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Adjuster Magnet Repair Procedures

Left Bank (Bank 1) VVT Adjuster Magnet Replacement

Tools Required:

• Socket set
• Torque wrench
• Timing chain holding tool
• Clean rags
• Engine oil

Procedure Steps:

1. Disconnect vehicle battery
2. Remove engine cover
3. Remove left timing chain cover
4. Lock timing chain in place using holding tool
5. Remove VVT adjuster mounting bolts
6. Carefully extract old VVT adjuster magnet
7. Clean mounting surface thoroughly
8. Install new VVT adjuster magnet
9. Torque mounting bolts to manufacturer specifications
10. Reinstall timing chain cover
11. Refill engine oil if necessary
12. Clear any related fault codes

Right Bank (Bank 2) VVT Adjuster Magnet Replacement

Tools Required:

• Socket set
• Torque wrench
• Timing chain holding tool
• Clean rags
• Engine oil

Procedure Steps:

1. Disconnect vehicle battery
2. Remove engine cover
3. Remove right timing chain cover (may require removal of additional components for access)
4. Lock timing chain in place using holding tool
5. Remove VVT adjuster mounting bolts
6. Carefully extract old VVT adjuster magnet
7. Clean mounting surface thoroughly
8. Install new VVT adjuster magnet
9. Torque mounting bolts to manufacturer specifications
10. Reinstall timing chain cover and any removed components
11. Refill engine oil if necessary
12. Clear any related fault codes
