Exhaust Gas Recirculation or EGR is an emissions control system. The system relies an EGR valve which is mounted on the system system and a tube that runs to the vehicles exhaust system. When specific conditions are met, a portion of exhaust gases allowed to flow back into vehicles intake and be reburned during the combustion cycle.
Over time, the EGR tube can began to corrode and fail. When this happens you typically notice the following:
- Exhaust smell
- Rough idle
- Check engine light
- Poor performance
- Rattling noise from engine compartment
