Spark plugs are used to ignite the fuel and air mixture in your vehicles combustion chamber. Spark plugs are made of ceramic insulation with a terminal on the top end. This terminal is connect to either a spark plug Wire or a coil-on-plug. This terminal is connected internally to the center electrode. On the other end is a ground electrode. There is gab that is a few hundredths of inch between the electrodes. This gas is where the spark forms.
Spark plugs are held in the cylinder head via threads on the spark plugs shell. When high voltage electricity is applied to the spark plug terminal, it travels down the internal connection to the center electrode. A spark is produced across the gap between the center electrode and the ground electrode.
Over time the spark plugs wear out. When this happens you will notice:
- Rough idle
- hard starts
- Reduced fuel economy
- reduced performance.
How much will it cost?

The actual cost depends on your specific make, model and year. Depending on your specific vehicle, this cost may be lower or higher. This cost estimate is for the specific repair listed and doesn’t include additional, related items that may require repair.
